From hitting it big in Japan with 2015 single “Mindstate” to becoming
the face of Coppola’s clothing brand Milkfed, Computer Magic’s Danz
(aka Danielle Johnson) has come a long way since her Band To Watch profile back in 2010. It shows in her new video for “Fuzz” from her recent album Davos.
Pulsating, funky ’80s synth lines hold down the low end beneath clean,
bright melodies that complement her vocals throughout the chorus. With
this Danz sets the tone for what may be the next progression of her
original bedroom synth-pop sound. In keeping with this upgrade, director
Joseph Carlin’s video for “Fuzz” is high definition eye candy, complete
with lights, fog, and a dramatic futuristic wardrobe, through which
Danz splits her time between playing what looks like the Virgin Mary and
Cat Woman of the future. With this play between light and dark taking
place between an overlay of glitchy effects, one can only imagine the
kind of theatrics that Computer Magic has in store for the future.
