Atoms For Peace – “Before Your Very Eyes” (Official Video)

Thom Yorke’s Atoms For Peace just shared their animated video for “Before Your Very Eyes,” the sputtering groove that opens their album Amok, and it’s a trippy one. In the video, some version of Yorke appears as a crumbling statue adrift in a psychedelic, undulating CGI river. And then a bunch of stuff happens, which you will have to figure out for yourself. My daughter, climbing on my head as I write this, has already pronounced the video “too silly,” but you can watch it below and make up your own mind.

A-Trak & Tommy Trash – “Tuna Melt” (Official Music Video)

Last year, A-Trak put together a bunch of collaborations with different producers on his Tuna Melt EP. And that EP’s title track, a team-up with fellow producer Tommy Trash, now has a pretty ridiculously great video. Ryan Staake directed the clip, but much of the credit goes to the kinetic artist Kinetic King, who set up an entire house full of dominoes and then proceeded to knock them all down in the most absurd, Rube Goldbergian manner imaginable. Pieces of toast, strings, water, stacked plastic cups, and one paper airplane are also involved, and I really hope this whole thing is real and none of it is CGI. Watch it below and marvel at how much work someone put into something so beautifully pointless.

Azealia Banks – “Atlantis” Video

Mermaids figure heavily into the iconography of au courant Harlem-bred dance-rapper Azealia Banks, and never more so than in the new video for “Atlantis,” a percolating track from her Fantasea mixtape. In director Fafi‘s video, Banks rides dolphins, flexes octopus tentacles, and generally reenacts “Under The Sea” via goofy no-budget CGI.

Liars – “Brats”

The Liars’ new video for the buzzing WIXIW track “Brats” sadly does not continue the story of their amazing “No. 1 Against The Rush” clip, but it’s just as freaked-out in its own right. The video, animated by Ian Cheng, works as a nightmare reimagining of the archetypal Bugs Bunny/Elmer Fudd story, as rendered in glitched-out CGI.

Beacon – “See Through You”

When most-recent BTW Beacon aren’t walking their sense for sensual R&B through a long, luxe hall lined with Warp LPs and bass music mixtapes, they work together at their own video production house. They’ve hand-crafted this video for “See Through You,” explicitly as a hat-tip to the “intuitive and passionate” genre of amateur-made videos, and certainly as a hat-tip to explicit imagery of CGI ladies riding poles and jiggling in bikinis. There is no nudity, but there are some cyber-thongs, so let’s call this one NSFW.

Rosa

ROSA is an 9m50s epic sci-fi film that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where all natural life has disappeared. From the destruction awakes Rosa, a cyborg deployed from the Kernel project, mankind's last attempt to restore the earth's ecosystem.

Rosa will soon learn that she is not the only entity that has awakened and must fight for her survival. The film was created entirely by young comic-artist Jesús Orellana with no budget during a single year.
