Passion Pit - "Cry Like a Ghost"

The new video from Passion Pit's Gossamer, this time for "Cry Like a Ghost", is a high-tech dream sequence directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (or Daniels). As the directors explain in a making-of video, "The idea is this girl is dancing through her relationships... we're trying to show how messy, confusing, funny, and sad and weird that is." The video was created in partnership with Sony's Music Unlimited service.

Watch the standard version below, along with a behind-the-scenes clip. Sony will also post an extended version over on its YouTube channel.

Tame Impala – “Mind Mischief” (NSFW)

Big morning for new music videos! We already got new clips from the Knife and Grizzly Bear, and now here’s Tame Impala’s bug-out clip for the head-blown Lonerism riff-stomper “Mind Mischief.” The video, from director David Wilson, tells the story of a young private school boy having a moment with a ridiculously sexy stoner teacher. A good third of the video is pretty much an extended slo-mo ass-shot of said teacher, and another huge chunk of it is a gloriously NSFW psychedelic animated sequence. The whole idea of the Urban Outfitters-produced video is just dumb fun, but it’s all done pretty expertly. Watch the video and a making-of featurette below.

Director David Wilson reports from the set of Tame Impala's video for "Mind Mischief," co-produced by Urban Outfitters along with Modular Recordings. Read an exclusive interview with the band about the video at http://blog.urbanoutfitters.com/tameimpala.

Björk – “Mutual Core” (Official Music Video) + The Making of

Björk will soon release her new album bastards, a collection of remixes of songs from her 2011 studio LP Biophilia. And now she’s also given us a video for the Biophilia track “Mutual Core,” which builds from shamanistic swirl to IDM insanity. In the video, we see Björk, buried to her waist in sand, singing while sentient, inhuman rock-creatures float around her, attempting to form strange connections. As the song unfolds, the images reach an explosive conclusion that resembles a fucked-up metal album cover. I have no idea what director Andrew Thomas Huang‘s visuals mean, but like so many other Björk videos, it’s a beguilingly strange vision.

The editing and overall arc keep a tight pace, feeling purposeful where experimental and abstract film can sometimes drift.
