Watch Flying Lotus’ Short Film FUCKKKYOUUU (NSFW)

Fresh off a Grammy nod for his collaboration with Kendrick Lamar on “Never Catch Me,” eccentric producer Flying Lotus is back with another striking set of visuals. He’s soundtracked the new Eddie Alcazar-directed short film FUCKKKYOUUU, which finally surfaces online today after its premiere at several film festivals last year, in conjunction with its screening at Sundance Film Festival today.

The short is wonderfully weird, dark, and disjointed. Shot in black-and-white, Alcazar’s use of light and shadow is impeccable, framing a twisted time-traveling love story. It opens with an excerpt from Silvia Plath, then moves to a haunting image of a glowing substance injected intravenously into an alien-like figure’s arm, lingering shots of naked bodies kissing while floating in the air (hence the NSFW), and a horrific, gory image of a tree sprouting its roots through the alien-like life form while laying on the ground. Flying Lotus’ score accentuates these beautiful, brutal images with a more traditional film score featuring his off-kilter aesthetic and eerie cinematic sweeps. The mix darts around your ears while listening through a pair of headphones, oscillating from left to right like it’s moving through your head. This is an evocative film in every aspect.

Miguel - Wildheart Chapter 1: Find What You Love And Let It Kill You Short Film (Explicit Version)

Miguel just released his really good new psychedelic R&B album Wildheart, and he’s already given us a sexy video for its sexy lead single “Coffee.” Now he’s put together a 13-minute short film called Wildheart Chapter 1: Find What You Love And Let It Kill You, which is basically one extra-long and extra-sexy music video for “…goingtohell,” “Coffee,” and “NWA,” interpolating the previously seen “Coffee” video and expanding upon Miguel’s torrid love affair with his blue-haired muse. At the end, Miguel goes for a sunny neighborhood stroll, and Kurupt is there too.

Watch Boots’ Motorcycle Jesus Short Film

When the name of the mysterious producer Boots appeared, over and over, in the credits of Beyoncé’s staggering self-titled album, he was an unknown, and he kept it that way for a while. But after a period of mystery and obfuscation, it emerged that Boots was Jordy Asher, the former leader of onetime Stereogum Band To Watch Blonds. In last year’s self-directed “Mercy” video, he even showed us the battered, bruised version of his face. “Mercy” was our first taste of the new Boots project: Motorcycle Jesus, a thoroughly arty 30-minute short film that Boots directed himself. Boots shot the movie in the Mojave Desert, and it includes a ton of new music; an EP-length soundtrack will be the man’s first commercial release under his own name. The movie also includes musical contributions from Boots’ mentor El-P and from Carla Azar. I’m watching the movie as I write this, and it appears to involve stabbings, robots, and at least one song that sounds a whole hell of a lot like Queens Of The Stone Age. Watch Pharmakon’s Bestial Burden Short Film

Pharmakon’s Bestial Burden (Stream) is a visceral meditation on some serious health problems, so as you might expect, the new short film Pharmakon just released to accompany the album is pretty gross. It’s not necessarily NSFW, but video depicting internal organs getting torn apart (reminiscent of the album cover) is not for the squeamish. There’s also a lot of dark performance footage and some fire. Margaret Chardiet co-directed the clip with Nina Hartmann.

Watch Chanel’s “Reincarnation” Short Starring Pharrell & Cara Delevingne

Pharrell is everywhere now, so why not opposite supermodel Cara Delevingne in a Chanel short film by Karl Lagerfeld? “Reincarnation” features the superstar duo dancing in an old-fashioned ballroom dressed up in splendorous formal attire. They also sing a very pretty duet that matches ancient pop stylings with a slick modern beat. Géraldine Chaplin also makes an appearance. The whole thing smacks of high-fashion beauty, as you’d expect from such a production.

Lana Del Rey in Sexual Assault Scene in Unreleased Marilyn Manson Video Directed by Eli Roth

Footage from an unreleased Marilyn Manson video starring Lana Del Rey has surfaced online, Teco Apple points out. The footage was directed by Eli Roth (Hostel), and depicts a series of dark scenes. There's a bloodied woman dunking her head in water, a birthday party stocked with misfits, a debauched dinner party, and a scene in which Del Rey is sexually assaulted. Last year, Roth was interviewed by Larry King, and said he'd shot the video with Manson and Del Rey. "The footage is so sick, it's been locked in a vault for over a year," he said.

Watch A Short Documentary On The Staves & Justin Vernon’s If I Was

English trio the Staves’ Justin Vernon-produced sophomore record will be out next year, and the band has shared a short documentary that gives a behind-the-scenes look at the recording process. The video was filmed on location at Vernon’s Eau Claire-based April Base Studios, where the album was recorded. “I became familiar with the Staves from an EP that was given to me by a friend, and a band that I play in live asked them to support us on a tour. When I heard the Staves singing, it’s literally like physiological … their sisterhood, their relation, and the combination of their voices is unlike anything I’ve ever heard,” Vernon said during the video. “Because I care about them so much, I wanted to invite them here, which seems like such a safe space for them to sprawl out their ideas and give them the runway and the tools and watch them grow into making a record.”

Watch FKA Twigs’ “Concept Film” For Google Glass

FKA Twigs stars in and directs a new video called “#throughglass” that acts as both an impressive showcase for Tahliah Barnett’s dancing and a weird commercial for Google Glass, which is featured prominently in the visuals. (They call it a “concept film.”) Twigs is joined by an cadre of dancers who all have some crazy awesome makeup effects going on. The video is set to reworked versions of “Video Girl” and an unreleased Twigs track called “Glass & Patron.” Watch, via fkatwigs.glass.

Experimental metal duo the Body’s new album, I Shall Die Here, is the darkest thing they’ve recorded. That’s in part because they teamed up with electronic/drone/nightmare producer the Haxan Cloak (Bobby Krlic), and if there’s one thing these two forces do really well it’s making music that sounds like dying — just listen to their explosive “Hail To Thee, Everlasting Pain.” The album recently inspired filmmaker Jason Evans to make the short At The Mercy Of It All, which is soundtracked by music from that album. It follows a bearded, weary man living in a cabin (as he records an album, and eventually works with Kanye … just kidding!) in complete isolation, as he looks over photos, old pages, and maps. It’s unclear at times whether the man is trying to let go of or cling to some part of his past, but as a storm builds outside, the music fills each methodical action with unbearable tension and terror.

Dum Dum Girls - “Are You Okay” Short Film (Written By Bret Easton Ellis)

Dum Dum Girls didn’t just make a music video for “Are You Okay,” a humid sigh of a song from their new album Too True. Instead, they got the famed American Psycho/Less Than Zero author Bret Easton Ellis to script them a creepy, inscrutable 11-minute psychological-horror short film for it. Dum Dums leader Dee Dee stars as a woman who, under hypnosis, conjures a demonic blonde doppelganger. Or at least, I think that’s what happens. Desert landscapes and strange art installations also figure heavily. Brewer directed the film, and Tamaryn and Drew MacDowall contributed the interstitial score.

Lana Del Rey - "Tropico" (Short Film)

Lana Del Rey’s new 27-minute short film Tropico works, more or less, as a glossy but bugged-out extended-length music video, a pretentious but sensationalistic dive into her center-free aesthetic. As directed by music-video veteran fantasist Anthony Mandler, LDR and male model Shaun Ross appear in a few very loosely connected vignettes. In the “Body Electric” segment, they’re in a dreamy Garden Of Eden amidst various icons: Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, John Wayne, Jesus. The “Gods & Monsters” part takes place in a fever-dream vision of an L.A. gang-world. And for “Bel Air,” they dance through some idealized vision of the American countryside. The whole time, there’s a lot of zoned-out voice-over, including a bit where LDR recites the famous opening of Allen Ginsberg’s Howl over a strippers-and-guns montage. Be advised that the whole thing is mildly NSFW for stripper-related reasons. Watch the early leaked version of it below; it drops officially later this morning.

Broken Bells - “Holding On For Life” Video (Feat. Kate Mara & Anton Yelchin)

Broken Bells, the duo of Danger Mouse and Shins frontman James Mercer, return early next year with their sophomore album After The Disco, and they’ve brought out some big guns in the short-film video for their first single “Holding On For Life,” the second part of a story that started below. The clip stars Kate Mara (Zoe Barnes on House Of Cards!) and Anton Yelchin (Chekov in the new Star Trek movies!), and it picks up where the last one left off. This time, Yelchin and Mara are a couple with a problem: They’re at a party on a glowing orb-shaped spaceship, and their reality keeps bending in on itself. You’d think Yelchin would be a little more used to the distorting effects of space travel after all his time on the Enterprise, but no. Jacob Gentry, who made the pretty good zombie movie The Signal, directed the video, Danger Mouse wrote the story, and the Creators Project produced it.

Broken Bells – After The Disco Short Film Part One: Angel And The Fool

Last month Broken Bells, the team of Danger Mouse and Shins frontman James Mercer, teased their sophomore LP After The Disco with a panoramic video. Now comes one in a normal shape, the first chapter of an After The Disco short film penned by Brian Burton (aka Danger Mouse), starring Anton Yelchin and Kara Mara, directed by Jacob Gentry, and produced by the Creators Project. The clip begins with Yelchin’s character roaming what looks like the same desert from the teaser video, only to discover Mara’s character, a lady in a spacesuit regaining consciousness. Watch it below, and look out for more installments soon.

Louis Vuitton Venice Fim - David Bowie & Arizona Muse (Full Movie)

David Bowie, who’s been awfully busy lately, is the star of a new short film called L’Invitation Au Voyage, which doubles as an advertisement for Louis Vuitton. Romain Gavras, who’s made great music videos for Justice and for M.I.A., directed it. The American model Arizona Muse (no really, that’s her name) plays a lady who lands a hot air balloon in Venice and ends up at a fancy-dress party, where Bowie is playing the Next Day song “I’d Rather Be High” on a harpsichord. This is all tied in with a new Vuitton ad campaign, which also features Bowie. The movie’s only a minute long, and you can watch.

Just Blaze & Baauer feat. JAY Z - "Higher" (Official Short Film)

Just before the whole “Harlem Shake” thing really popped off, Baauer got together with Just Blaze, one of the greatest rap producers ever, to make “Higher,” a hard-as-fuck trap rave track that was all shot through with Jay-Z vocal samples. (Right now, it’s tagged as “featuring Jay Z,” but Jay doesn’t rap on it or anything, so no.) The track now has a video from director Nabil, and like most things directed by Nabil, it’s incredible. The clip tells the story about a little kid in India who tries to get his revenge on a drunk-asshole martial artist type. It all looks like it’s heading toward a situation like the one with Ben Affleck and the paint in Dazed & Confused, but then things take… another direction.

"This Must Be The Only Fantasy" | Rodarte & Todd Cole (Short Film Soundtracked By Beach House)

Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the sister design duo behind the line Rodarte, and photographer Todd Cole have linked up for This Must Be The Only Fantasy, a short film soundtracked by Beach House. In the film, a disgruntled Dungeons & Dragons player (played by surfer/model Sidney Williams) liberates herself from the basement, only to have her world turned into a real-life fantasy. Elijah Wood, who we already know plays fantasy well, and model Guinevere Van Seenus co-star.

Beach House - "Forever Still" (Short Film)

In making their short film Forever Still, the members of Beach House spent a night traveling to a bunch of different breathtaking locations in Texas to perform four different songs from their 2012 album Bloom. The 27-minute mini-movie looks absolutely gorgeous, with the band convincingly showing just how larger-than-life these songs are.
