The UK dance-pop producer and Jessie Ware collaborator Julio Bashmore released his Knockin’ Boots
album last year, and he’s got a new video for the propulsive,
disco-indebted “Let Me Be Your Weakness,” one of that album’s tracks.
The clip, from director Daniel Brereton,
feels like a disconnected series of vivid images: Beauty-pageant kids,
cosplay swordfighters, a vaguely ominous furry, a poodle with its fur
dyed hot pink. None of it fits together, but all the images, for
whatever reason, make me think of provincial England. And while there’s
not much connective thread, the video always gives you something to look
at.
