S/M/L is proof that hard work for a failed pitch can still lead to amazing results. Kudos to Tendril for going for it even if the client didn’t. Via Bran DJ.

Michael Stipe and His Sister Lynda On Their Cinematic Collaboration For Collapse Into Now
Directed by Michael Stipe and his sister Lynda, today's premiere of the music video for R.E.M.’s "Discoverer" accompanies the first track off the group's 15th studio album, Collapse Into Now. Alongside the record, which has been hailed as their best in a decade, the band’s cerebral frontman commissioned a film for each of the 12 tracks from the likes of James Franco, Sam Taylor-Wood, Sophie Calle, and Albert Maysles. Stipe opted to direct "Discoverer" himself, citing a personal attachment to the tune, which posits New York as his muse. "It's autobiographic," he says. "I rarely insert myself this directly into a song." Lynda's inventive use of the computer program AutoCAD (a tool for architectural layouts) for projections during live performances with her experimental band, Flash to Bang Time, served as a jumping off point. "It's like the Velvet Underground circa 1969, with the Exploding Plastic Inevitable, when they were working alongside Andy Warhol in the Factory,” Stipe says of the color-drenched effect.
She & Him’s last video, for “Thieves” was shot in Super 8 and was grainy and gritty — or at least grainy and gritty for a She & Him project. The “Don’t Look Back” video returns to the overwhelming cuteness of their “In The Sun” video. There’s a choreographed dance, a glossy set full of Danish modern, and Zooey Deschanel in cute vintage outfits — pretty much all you need for a successful She & Him video. This clip was by Jeremy Konner. Konner is the director behind the Drunk History series.

Animation directed for the Dutch pavilion (Happy Street) at the Shanghai World Expo.
Happy Street is a complete street in the shape of an eight, a lucky number to the Chinese, and stands out in particular because of its striking, playful, and very open design. Körmeling developed an ideal city in a roller coaster construction.

The city district Amsterdam Osdorp recently merged with Slotervaart and Geuzenveld-Slotermeer and was given the name Amsterdam Nieuw-West. This change also meant the end of 20 years of restructuring urbanized areas. To celebrate everything achieved, a book was published. ‘The Metamorphosis of Osdorp’ gives an overview of the architectural highlights. PlusOne was asked to create an intriguing video.
You probably had to enter it somewhere on a website already; a CAPTCHA code.
A random string of awkwardly placed numbers and characters, to be recognized and entered to verify you really are human. Architect Aram Bartholl (DE) places CAPTCHA codes as tags in the public space. Their strange art of writing makes sure the codes blend in the street view unnoticed.
German artist Aram Bartholl often juxtaposes online life with real life, as seen in his giant Google Maps indicators and actualization of World of Warcraft avatars. One of his recent projects is to place CAPTCHAs — the images of letters and numbers used to prevent computers from creating accounts with online services — in public spaces. Bertholl places them next to graffiti tags because graffiti, like CAPTCHAs, are codes that can only be read by certain people. The project is called “Are You Human?”
