Angry Birds (2011) - (Un)Official Movie Trailer
This Angry Birds parody trailer looks like it was made by Guy Ritchie, and really has nothing to do with the video game aside from the whole “pigs snatch their eggs, so the birds get revenge” dynamic. But it’s sexy, funny, and really slick looking for a comedy short.

VOLTRON: The End - (Live action short)
VOLTRON: The End - (Live action short directed by Alex Albrecht)
When a man regains consciousness in a Voltron battle lion after an "accident" he has to decide does he live a few more minutes or try to tell the world what happened... the end is only the beginning.
---
Yes.
Let it be done.
It is time for Voltron, the Defender of the Far Universe, to return to the screen. Hollywood: our supply of romantic comedies is quite adequate, thank you very much. Now devote your efforts to this noble cause. Spare no expense.

The-Dream – “Murderer”
“Murderer”, the new song from airy R&B auteur The-Dream, is a breathy Auto-Tuned reverie, and it doesn’t sound the slightest bit violent, title notwithstanding. The song shows up in Colombiana, the new movie where Zoe Saldana does a whole lot of gun-pointing, and the track’s video doubles as a Colombiana trailer. It even has the green preview screen at the beginning and everything. And even though the song doesn’t come close to fitting the images onscreen, it sort of works; I am going to watch the living shit out of Colombiana.

Sucker Punch - Animated Short : The Trenches
A new animated short has been released for director Zack Snyder's soon-to-be-released fantasy adventure Sucker Punch, titled The Trenches. In Sucker Punch, the girls face off against an army of mechanized WWI soldiers. Through the use of clockwork and steam technology, human soldiers who die in battle are reanimated and sent back to the front lines. Although seemingly indistinguishable and soulless, the zombie army is not just made of gears and steam, but also of human flesh, bone, and memory. In The Trenches there is a tragic tale behind each lifeless mask. You can watch this new animated short in the clip below.
Sucker Punch comes to theaters March 25th, 2011 and stars Carla Gugino, Vanessa Hudgens, Jena Malone, Jon Hamm, Michael Jai White, Abbie Cornish, Emily Browning, Jamie Chung. The film is directed by Zack Snyder.

The Backwater Gospel
The infamous Animation Workshop hit hard this time, churning out a really impressive production, which is way ahead of what you’d expect from a student film. Granted, they had a pretty reasonably sized team, and from what you can see, all of them were apparently crazy talented. Now go and enjoy the Backwater Gospel – also make sure to check out their extensive blog with progress elements and making of snippets.
“The Backwater Gospel” is a bachelor film project 2011 from The Animation Workshop.

TOYLAND (English Subtitles)
1942: what happens when a German kid believes that his Jewish neighbors are going to Toyland? A beautiful and moving story about lies and guilt. SFJFF is proud to present the 2009 Academy Award Winner for Best Live Action Short Film as our free online short for the month of February. Directed by Jochen Alexander Freydank.
-----
Recent Short Film (Live-Action) Oscar-winner Toyland (Spielzeugland) is available for free viewing on YouTube during the month of February thanks to a cool and unique promotional gesture from the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival.A young German boy is hurt when he finds out that his best friend will be leaving soon “to go on a trip”. His mother, in order to hide the truth tells him that his friend and parents are going to “Toyland”.Shorts International has, for the last several years, gobbled up the rights to all Oscar-nominated short films—packaging them in their successful DVD collections and placing them for individual sale in Apple’s iTunes store. So, while they’ve been available, it’s a rare treat that a film like 2009 winner Toyland (Spielzeugland) is available on YouTube even for a limited period—just in time for this year’s Academy Awards!
This 14min German film treads well-worn territory at this point—adults trying to protect innocent youngsters from a true understanding of the horrors of the Holocaust. However when done well these stories still possess an unmatched power to move an audience.
And no bones about it, Toyland certainly is very well done. It has everything you want from a prestige short film production: wonderful acting, authentic set/costume design, and professional level cinematography complete with several interesting shots. But more impressively even than that is how director Jochen Alexander Freydank faciley tells his story in two timelines; background details emerge simultaneously with present action. It can be confusing at first, but it results in a big payoff at the end. A truly wonderful film.

Up! (1965)
From Youtube:
What if... Walt Disney produced "Up" in the 1960s?
Ah, the swinging 60s. It was a time when films were dominated by flying automobiles and flying nannies. It was also a time when live-action Disney films flourished and spawned such hits as "The Love Bug", "The Absent-Minded Professor", and "The Monkey's Uncle". In an alternate reality, this era also saw the production of the high-flying adventure-comedy, "Up!". Starring Spencer Tracy and Kirk Douglas, "Up!" followed the oddball escapades of the elderly widower, Carl Fredricksen, and his earnest band of misfits as they traveled through the wilds of South America. Produced two decades after "Saludos Amigos" and "The Three Caballeros", the film continued the Disney tradition of telling stories set against Latin American backdrops.
Editor's Note: I have always enjoyed old Disney movies from the 60s and 70s. They managed to tap into such an imaginatively odd combination of situations and characters (like dinosaur bones and Chinese spies in "One of Our Dinosaurs is Missing", or flying cars and basketball players in The Absent-Minded Professor"). In many ways, Pixar's "Up" continues this charming tradition with its flying houses, talking dogs and gigantic flightless birds. It's a brilliantly written and beautifully imagined film. Oh, and stay tuned for the frame-by-frame breakdown and cheat sheet... there are a couple of Easter eggs hidden in this one.
Here's the recipe for the trailer: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, *batteries not included, The Red Balloon, Superman, The Wizard of Oz, The Muppet Movie, Follow Me Boys, Mackenna's Gold, Benji, A Boy and His Dog, Mysterious Island, The Doberman Gang, The Alvin Show, Posse, One of Our Dinosaurs is Missing, The Island at the Top of the World, Zeppellin, Stephen King's It, Hollywood Hotel, Jonny Quest, Peter Pan's Flight, Habanera from Carmen, Always.
