Otherwhile is the outfit of former Ra Ra Riot cellist Alexandra Lawn
and longtime collaborator Stefan Macarewich. The duo recently released
their first full-length Born To Be A Stranger, and today album
track “Haunt You” has been given the visual treatment. The song is
wonderfully dissonant, with a bright, catchy aesthetic masking
penetrating messages. The Justin Purser-directed clip picks up on
darkness of the lyrics, shot in low-light with Lawn giving a passionate
but somewhat detached deliverance of the vocals, evoking the emotions of
the song. Lawn had this to say about the track and video:
“Haunt You” is a song about falling from grace, mostly, and owning it. We hunted for the most dingy, cold, dark, but loved cabin we could find and camped out in it for 2 days— it was like being in a time machine. Justin let the story build from there on the spot, which I think is very fitting of the song.”
