The Child Of Lov (Featuring Damon Albarn) – “Heal”

It’s not easy for an artist to have a secret identity in the time of Facebook, but so far the Child Of Lov has managed to keep his given name on the DL. Of course, he has yet to release an album or physical single yet, so there’s ample time for his cover to be blown. What we do know? The artists associated with the project are insanely impressive: DOOM, Thundercat, and Damon Albarn all contribute to the Child of Lov’s forthcoming debut LP. The first single from that album, “Heal,” features a bassline courtesy of Albarn; it’s reminiscent of Blur’s “Crazy Beat,” in fact. The video for the track was filmed in Atlanta (the Child Of Love is “artistically rooted in the southern state of Georgia, USA,” per his bio) and directed Focus Creeps (Arctic Monkeys, Girls the band).

Neil Young & Crazy Horse - "Ramada Inn" (Official Music Video)

This motherfucker Neil Young just got his old Crazy Horse band back together to make their second album this year, and that album, Psychedelic Pill, has some really, really long songs on it. One of those songs is “Ramada Inn,” a 17-minute psych-rock odyssey about, more or less, being old and in love. It’s pretty shattering, and now Young has made a video for it, using a ton of old, scratchy archival footage and kaleidoscopic designs.

Sigur Rós – “Dauðalogn” Video

Icelandic dreamers Sigur Rós are still making videos for their Valtari Film Experiment, in which every song from their new album gets a video treatment from a different visual artist. The latest, for “Dauðalognm,” is a slow, tender, atmospheric thing, in which one man carries another man — a naked man — through a misty forest and waits by his hospital bed. There’s a ton of nudity, but I’m pretty sure no schlongs are exposed, so you should be OK watching it at work, provided you work in a suitably liberal environment. Ruslan Fedotow directs.

Slash - "Bad Rain"

Slash is once again delving into the animated world, but this time with a more sinister turn in the video for ‘Bad Rain.’ The guitar great and his animated counterparts turn up as the house band at a strip club that holds a dark secret.

In the video, an older gentleman enters the club and is immediately transfixed by the fetching redhead with the snake tattoo dancing upon the stage while Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators play in the background. The woman has seemingly every man in the place glued to her every move, but the latest arrival is the one garnering most of her attention.

As she continues to mesmerize the gentleman in the front row, he starts to notice that the people around him are not what they seem.

This isn’t the first time Slash has been involved with animation, as Velvet Revolver‘s ‘Dirty Little Thing‘ clip had animated elements (Watch for yourself below). The rocker also appeared in animated form for Disney’s ‘Phineas and Ferb‘ film.

Bloc Party - Kettling

In Bloc Party’s new video for “Kettling”, a group of school children take a game of Red Rover to its most violent extreme (although running headfirst into a group of your friends has always been a teensy bit violent). Here, kids no older than 13 tackle each other with the ferocity of Roman soldiers, eventually leading to an all-out brawl of tiny fists and awkward tackles that is as bloody as it is adorable. It’d be easy to blame parents, the media, or irresponsible farmers for this unwarranted violence, but this 7th grade fight club seems to cherish this bloodshed more than an extended recess.
