A new trailer for the amazing game - Assassin's Creed 2. The stunningly cinematic "Visions of Venice" trailer for the sequel to the highly acclaimed 2007 game, Assassin's Creed, has been released earlier today.
Because the game takes place in Venice (300 years after the events of Assassin's Creed,) the developers realized that an integral part of creating a living, breathing, Renaissance era Venice, would be to include the famous canals. Ezio, the character you play as, will be able to use these canal systems to his advantage; but whether that means a sneaky entrance or a quick escape is up to the player to decide.
The trailer also shows the flying contraption supposedly built for Ezio by Leonardo Da Vinci himself. Along with Da Vinci's contraptions, Ezio can disarm his enemies and use their weapons against them. A real useful trick when you find yourself unarmed and surrounded. The ability to assassinate two people at once is also being integrated into the game.

Master pop trio Miike Snow were looking for an experimental music video for their new single, ‘Animal’.
Director Anthony Dickenson decided to work with projections and sculptures using a mixture of animation and band performance footage. Although the technique has been seen in art installations, it had never before been combined with camerawork for a music video. The technique for mapping projections was very complicated; the aftereffects had to be co-coordinated through experimentation over a period of 5 weeks.
The result is a unique music video in which graphic, colourful country and city landscapes move and change in time with the music, whilst the band members transform into fantastical animals.

Back in July, I scribbled out a diatribe against Mass Animation, a Facebook-supported competition to create a CG short film by crowd-sourcing the animation to thousands of animators around the world. (See trailer above.)
While most of the Motionographer regulars agreed with my points against Mass Animation, not everyone felt that spec-work competitions like Mass Animation are a bad thing.
To help flesh out the other side of the story, we got in touch with Alexander Micah Snow, Mass Animation participant and then animation student at the Savannah College of Art and Design. We edited his response for length, but left it otherwise in tact.
