Rachel Grimes - “The Herald” (Official Video)

We previously premiered Rachel Grimes’ “The Herald,” along with the details for her solo debut The Clearing, and today she’s released a time-lapsed video for that track. Grimes is, of course, a founding member of Louisville trio Rachel’s striking out on her own. The video was shot by Coen Bouman and includes footage from Amsterdam, Venice, Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Tel Aviv. For an urgent, ardent instrumental jazz track, this kind of international scenery is evocative in all the right ways. The cinematography skillfully matches the jittery saxophone and mellow piano lines with scenery that’s accordingly sped up or slowed down.
