Chris once wrote
that Sinkane is a conglomerate of everything from “Sade to Radiohead to
Alvino Rey to Fela Kuti” and I think that about sums up Ahmed Gallab’s
willful eclecticism. “Young Trouble” is an island jam drenched in retro
pop ennui off Sinkane’s 2014 album Mean Love, and the band
recently shared a muted-neon video to accompany all the unrequited
longing. Except, the album version of “Young Trouble” ends at the 3:41
mark, and the video flips into an abridged version of another Mean Love track, “Yacha.” The whole thing was directed by Philip Di Fiore.
