Indigo ATLien Raury continues to impress. He’s had a video, song, and mixtape
honored here at Stereogum, and it seems he’s out for more. Earlier this
year he threw his fashionable hat into the racial injustice
conversation with the humble, hopeful Malik Shakur collaboration “Fly.”
Today, it gets a literal, simple, and powerful video treatment by Malia
Murray. 2D black-and-white animation chronicles important moments in
black history, both uplifting and sorrowful, before a visual eulogy for
some of the recent victims of police killings scrolls slowly across the
screen for what seems like forever — so disheartening. But the
hopefulness shines through in the end.
