“Shame” is probably my favorite song off Young Fathers’ new album, White Men Are Black Men Too (Stream).
It’s got this raw, pissed-off intensity that immediately hits your
bloodstream. In the Jeremy Cole-directed video for the track, they play
off that pulsing violence that lingers just under the surface,
portraying one long scene of an injured, bloodied man (Joshua Hubbard)
running down abandoned roads and countryside. It all culminates in an
intensive, body-wrenching dance sequence that seems more necessary to
our hero’s health than meeting any of the basic requirements of Maslow’s
hierarchy of needs.
