No band does a better job of not giving a fuck than Ed Schrader’s
Music Beat. These are two dudes who make short, sticky power-punk songs
using a single drum and bass as their instrumentation. They’re goofy and
endearing and a total joy to see live. “Emperor’s New Chair” is from
the band’s most recent album, Party Jail, which was released last May. In this video, Ed Schrader and Devlin Rice magically end up trading place a la Freaky Friday.
Rice commented that the video is a parody: “The idea was to try and
recreate Paul Simon’s whimsical video for ‘Call Me Al,’ except that it
would actually be funny.” Watch director Justin Barnes’ re-creation.
