Liturgy - “Quetzalcoatl” (Official Video)

Brooklyn metal boundary-crushers Liturgy released their epic and decidedly experimental album The Ark Work last month, and today, they’ve unveiled their video for the early single “Quetzalcoatl.” The Japanese art entity Aujik directed the video, setting the song to a CGI tableau that seems to depict some sort of dimensional portal opening up in the sky in front of a couple. You can’t tell if the bright light represents heaven or hell, and somehow it’s not for you to know. Watch it below and check out a statement from Liturgy frontman Hunter Hunt-Hendrix.

Hunt-Hendrix writes:

I was interested in working with Aujik because they use CGI to traverse boundaries between the organic, machinic, subjective, sacred and profane in a stunning way, and the project seemed to complement my own efforts with the arrangements on The Ark Work. I asked them to make a meditative piece drawing from Doré’s famous illustration of The Divine Comedy depicting Dante and Beatrice gazing into the Empyrean realm, and they took it from there.
