At the top of the year Jamison aka Teen Daze released his A World Away EP, another entry in a long string of unassuming, ambient releases. For comparison’s sake, listen to a few tracks off that EP to get a good sense of his sound: “Reykjavik, January 2015” and “Another Night.” Now, forget all that. On his new album Morning World,
Jamison has teamed with esteemed San Francisco indie-rocker and
producer John Vanderslice. The record was recorded at Vanderslice’s
all-analog Tiny Telephone Studio with Simon Bridgefoot as a co-producer.
The title track for the record seems to split the difference between
Vanderslice’s ambling indie jangles and Jamison’s own penchant for hazy,
wandering synths. In keeping with that theme, the gorgeous video for
the track oscillates between desolate landscapes and graceful dancers.
