Heather Woods Broderick has been a peripheral member of the
big-and-bold singer-songwriter scene for quite awhile now, touring with
Sharon Van Etten and playing alongside groups like Horse Feathers and
Efterklang. She released a solo record, Glider, last week and back in June we heard one of its first singles, “Mama Shelter.”
It’s a sparse, shudder-inducing song that relies more on Broderick’s
remarkable raspy harmonies than on instrumentation. Now, Broderick’s
released an Andrew Gallo-directed video for the single. The video is the
first in a series that Gallo’s put together of amateur dancers
responding to music they’re completely unfamiliar with.
