Last year, Lykke Li released the sweeping, shattering breakup album I Never Learn. Her new video for the grand, operatic ballad “Never Gonna Love Again” is shattering in some very different ways. The video starts out as a look at a singer who has to go out onstage every night and sing some very sad songs, and it would’ve probably worked just fine if it were just that. But director Philippe Tempelman isn’t shy about throwing some twists into the template, some of which involve actual fireworks. The result is a surprising, dramatic video.
