Toro Y Moi’s video for “Lilly” chronicles the inanities of everyday
suburban existence. A birds-eye-view of a seaside housing development
puts the viewer in-scene, as Chaz Bundick lays on a perfectly manicured
lawn alongside a dog. The scene shifts to a grocery store’s slow descent
into chaos, ignited by an elderly woman dropping a jar of tomato sauce.
Directed by longtime Toro collaborator HARRYS, it’s an expertly edited
work that perfectly compliments the band’s abstract, avant-production.
“Lilly” was released on Toro Y Moi’s latest album, What For?, which dropped at the beginning of the month.
