Earlier this year, the Nashville band Bandit impressed the hell out of us with Of Life,
a debut album of quietly majestic slowcore. They just shared their
video for the lovely track “The Drive Home,” and it has a real sense of
awe to it. Director Derek Scearce
is mostly just filming snow-capped mountains from car windows, but he
actually conveys a sense of wonder, filming everything clearly and
editing it with an intuitive momentum. It’s hard for a band to make
anything compelling out of a here’s-what-we-saw-on-tour video, but
Bandit have pulled it off here.
