Northern Ireland’s Arborist is Mark McCambridge’s country project.
McCambridge is proud of his Irish roots but adores American countryside
culture. In the Stephen Agnew-directed clip for the band’s debut single,
“Twisted Arrow,” the two cultures mesh so organically that it is
difficult to picture the images being captured anywhere but the US. The
lead vocals delivered with an American Southern drawl, accented by
twangy guitars and Kim Deal’s backing vocals are quite deceptive as
well. McCambridge had this to say about the clip:
The video was shot around various locations in Northern Ireland. We wanted to capture the curious underbelly of American culture here; from riding American quarter horses “country style” to ceremonial flag-bearers, gunslingers and line-dancers. But the real emphasis was on the personalities involved set against the incongruous backdrop of the North.
