Death From Above 1979 have just shared a video for “Virgins,” a track off of last year’s reunion album The Physical World,
and it’s a weird one. It follows around a group of rebellious Amish
teens that set up a wild party in a barn, where they take shrooms and
see the world in a new light. “The video takes cues from the lyrics of
the song which are a meditation on innocence and coming of age,” the
band explained in a press release. “That very precarious time in life
when sex is elusive, maybe even frightening but always compelling.”
There’s not much sex to be had in the video besides some aggressive
licking, but there is a bloody banana that’s handed off through a moving
photo frame, some cremation snorting, and a fight with a wooden chair.
