Inventions - “Springworlds” (Official Video)

Last year, the ambient stargazers in Inventions — Explosions In The Sky’s Mark T. Smith and Eluvium’s Matthew Cooper — released their twinkling post-rock debut. Last month, the pair shared “Springworlds,” the gorgeous first single from their second LP, Maze Of Woods. Now, they’ve teamed up with British animator/motion designer Dan Jacobs for an equally dazzling impressionistic video to complement the song’s panoramic highs. Jacobs traditionally draws his graphics by hand, a technique that allows “Springworlds” to burst to life with rushing urgency. The shaky scribbling pulls out qualities of the song that might otherwise get taken for granted, like its Arctic-blast undertones and celebratory storminess.
