Tobias Jesso Jr.’s debut album Goon came into 2015 and swept everyone off their feet. Now, Jesso continues to do so in the moony video for “Without You.”
Here, he’s doing what he does best — quietly serenading us from the
piano piano bench while a couple with wildly varying ages first slow
dance, then have passionate sex in the bathroom. It was directed by Seth
Mendelson and stars Ben Smith-Petersen and Kathy Boettcher. I always
thought of this more as a mournful, lonely break up song, but that’s why
interpretation is such a beautiful thing right?
