Math rock can have an unusually high barrier to entry, and sometimes
it can be so technical that it’s not really fun to listen to. It takes a
certain level of focus to balance a melody alongside tricky time
signatures, but Kyoto’s Tricot have built a pop identity through their
cerebral compositional style. “Pork Ginger” is a sugar rush, and the
song’s accompanying video is a fitting and fun visual accompaniment.
