If for some reason you decided to watch this music video without the
music, you would probably wonder what kind of song could warrant such an
intense depiction. But once you hear Rag’N'Bone Man’s “Hell Yeah”
featuring Long Beach rapper Vince Staples, you’ll understand the terror
and other overwhelming emotions the video is responsible for conveying.
The song itself is a neat flip on the phrase “hell yeah” — in this case,
“We’re all going to hell, yeah” — that matches Staples’ dead-eyed
lyricism with Rag’N'Bone Man’s baritone singsong. The video, directed by
Truman and Cooper at Colonel Blimp, follows the story of a brother and
sister who are conspiring to kill their father as a result of a
presumably long past of turmoil. The story starts with the siblings
rehearsing the murder as the brother pretends to be their dad, spitting
venomous words at the sister to remind her of their motive. Things are
complicated, however, when the dad arrives and the three find themselves
in a car circling a parking lot around scenes of their fighting past.
Watch the video below to find out how the gripping story ends.
