A support group in the US for victims of sexual assault has deemed Maroon 5's 'Animals' video "dangerous".

RAINN (the Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network) has released a statement regarding the video, which shows singer Adam Levine working in a butchers shop and following a woman (played by his wife Behati Prinsloo) who he is shown to be obsessed with, before having sex with her while covered in showers of blood.

The statement, provided to Billboard, reads: "Maroon 5's video for 'Animals' is a dangerous depiction of a stalker's fantasy - and no one should ever confuse the criminal act of stalking with romance. The trivialization of these serious crimes, like stalking, should have no place in the entertainment industry."

Maroon 5 are yet to comment on the allegations, however Levine previously expressed his excitement regarding the video. "I'm so excited about [the Animals video]. I had this crazy idea… [and] it’s really dark… and weird and cool… It’s really crazy,” he said to Access Hollywood.
