Last week, Brooklyn epic-indie craftsmen the Antlers teased us
with a couple of minutes of new music, but they didn’t wait too long to
let us know what’s up. In a couple of months, the band will release
their first proper full-length since 2011′s Burst Apart. It’s called Familiars,
and the band produced and engineered it themselves at their New York
studio. The veteran indie producer Chris Coady, who just did such great
work on Future Islands’ Singles,
mixed it. The album opens with “Palace,” a song that totals nearly six
minutes and features a prettily mournful music-box melody. The video,
from director Hana Tajima, is all placid interiors and churning waters.
