“Darkest Place,”
the new single from Woman’s Hour, is a pretty and synthy indie-pop
song, but its lyrics are about the deepest parts of relationship
frustration. The song’s new video, directed by Broomberg & Chanarin,
takes its visual metaphor to a stark and tough-to watch extreme. The
entire video is a black-and-white closeup on a woman’s face as she sings
the song and a pair of male hands grab her and, as far as I can tell,
try to pry her eyes open.
