Not long ago, Ty Segall released a truly great album, a dizzily fuzzed-up glam-slam called Manipulator.
The fluttering, crashing “The Singer” is one of the closest things to a
ballad on the album, and Segall just made a video for the song with
director Matt Yoka.
The clip starts out as a static camera shot of Segall playing in a
messy apartment. It never really changes from that basic concept, but
supernatural ideas start to show up: Ghost bandmates, levitation, a
guitar that shoots neon energy-waves.
