Last year, Pharrell helped Daft Punk take over the world when he appeared on their Random Access Memories tracks “Get Lucky” and “Lose Yourself To Dance.”
This year, the French duo returned the favor, collaborating with
Pharrell on “Gust Of Wind,” a lush prog-funk track from his solo album G I R L.
The duo don’t exactly appear in Pharrell’s brand-new video for the
track, but we do see their heads, taking the shape of ancient stone
UFOs. The rest of the video is Pharrell dancing through an autumnal
forest with a troupe of rhythmic gymnasts. It’s a strange, joyous video,
and the person responsible for directing it is Edgar Wright, the cult-beloved filmmaker who made Shaun Of The Dead and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World and who hasn’t directed any music videos since he did Charlotte Hatherly’s “Bastardo” in 2005.
