Every once in a while, the members of the National like to remind us
that they do not just sit around morosely brooding all day, and it’s
always fun when that happens. Case in point: The video for “Graceless,”
an elegant wallow of a song from their new album Trouble Will Find Me.
The video looks like it’ll be a classy affair, shot in glossy
black-and-white and opening as the band members show up in dark suits at
a palatial suburban house. (It actually belongs to the parents of
frontman Matt Berninger.) But then they all start getting shitfaced,
jumping into the pool fully clothed, careening down a Slip-N-Slide, and
engaging in a few other forms of awesome collegiate-alcoholic hijinks.
