Desire – “Tears From Heaven”

At the moment, Glass Candy/Chromatics mastermind Johnny Jewel is the driving force for a whole mob of eerily retro Italo-disco projects, many of whom will contribute to the forthcoming comp After Dark 2. We’ve already seen Chromatics’ video for the After Dark 2 track “Looking For Love,” and now Desire, Jewel’s duo with singer Megan Louise, have shared their video for the compilation track “Tears From Heaven,” which I assure you is not an Eric Clapton cover. (That would be “Tears In Heaven,” but I think I can be forgiven for momentary panic there.) The song brings all of Jewel’s trademark sensory faraway bump, and frequent collaborator Alberto Rossini directed the grainy video.

In Minneapolis folk band Dark Dark Dark’s video for their song “Tell Me,” singer Nona Marie Invie dons an astronaut helmet so she can leave her desolate office building and wander empty streets and forests. Isaac Gale directs.

Sky Ferreira – “Sad Dream” (Official Music Video)

Singer Sky Ferreira’s new video depicts a dangerous, dying relationship. If you’re a fan of long, blank stares onto which you can project profound sadness, this is the clip for you! Grant Singer directs.

The Antlers - "Drift Dive" (Official Music Video)

The video for the Antlers' "Drift Dive" is a fairly literal interpretation of the Undersea song's title. It's a first-person descent deep into a body of water.

Bleeding Rainbow - "Drift Away" (Official Music Video)

Philly garage-poppers Bleeding Rainbow, formerly Reading Rainbow, will return early next year with their new album Yeah Right. The video for their raggedly catchy new single “Drift Away” alternates foggy band-performance footage with a tough-to-follow stop-motion narrative about a skull-faced alien scientist.

Das Racist – “Girl”

In the brand-new video for “Girl,” an infectious plastic-pop track from Das Racist’s 2011 album Relax, a lovestruck mullethead attempts to win over a young lady by pulling out some of his most absurd public dance moves. He also fights an enormous biker for reasons that aren’t explained, probably because they don’t have to be. Aristotle Athiras
directs, and somebody needs to build a Step Up sequel around star Fahim Anwar immediately.

The Sea And Cake - “Harps”

The Sea And Cake dropped “Harps” in July; it was the first single from the band’s wonderful new album, Runner, which was released in September. So it makes sense that they’d wait till late October to give us a video for “Harps.” The clip was directed by Jay Buim, and follows a pair of twee-looking girls blissfully killing time in the suburbs. It reminds me a lot of the film version of Ghost World, actually — which is kinda weird, because along with being the Sea And Cake’s guitarist, Archer Prewitt is also a visual artist from the Chicago alt-comics scene that spawned Daniel Clowes … who created Ghost World. Weird, right? No?

Watch Best Coast’s Commercial For Microsoft Windows 8

Last night, I was doing Google News searches for “windows” — as in, “Should I put big Xs on my windows with duct tape, so I’m not killed in my sleep when this hurricane makes landfall and decimates New York City with 500-mph, glass-shattering, gale-force winds?” However, my search was thwarted with news of last Friday’s launch of Microsoft’s Windows 8, which was slightly less urgent, for my purposes. Nonetheless, the Windows promotional campaign rolls on, and it includes a clip featuring Best Coast (thus leading astray my hurricane-related searches including the terms “windows” and “coast”). The commercial is set to the band’s “The Only Place,” and intercuts Best Coast video with Windows 8 features, ostensibly leading one to imagine the ways in which Bethany and Bobb might engage with the user interface.

Titus Andronicus "In a Big City" (Official Video)

The video for “In A Big City,” the rousing lead single from Titus Andronicus’s not-The Monitor-but-still-great new album Local Business, depicts frontman Patrick Stickles as a scowling solitary figure, fighting through crowds and crossing desolate urban-blight Jersey landscapes so that he can arrive on the Hudson River’s banks and stare down the promised land on the other side. It’s a strong, striking bit of imagery. Isaac Ravishankara directs.

of Montreal – “Sails Hermaphorditic” (NSFW)

The video for “Sails Hermaphroditic,” a song from of Montreal’s new rarities collection Daughter Of Cloud, switches back and forth between a brutal good-times rumble in the middle of a park — one that involves Jell-O and a referee for some reason — and a naked psychedelic dance party — one that may or may not involve actual on-camera fucking. Suffice to say: This is very NSFW, and you will be entertained. Kevin and Nina Barnes direct.

M83 – “Steve McQueen”

Sadly, M83′s video for the great Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming! burner “Steve McQueen” does not feature the return of the glowy-eyed mutant children from the “Midnight City” and “Reunion” videos. But the clip does stay in keeping with the superpowered-kids theme. In this one, a tuxedoed young boy magically levitates a host of toy animals in his back yard. The clip is the winner of a contest that the band held, and Balthazar Auxietre and Sylvain Derosne direct.

Sinkane - "Runnin'" (Official Music Video)

Sinkane, aka Ahmed Gallab, collaborator with Caribou, Yeasayer, Of Montreal, and more, has shared the video for Mars highlight "Runnin'". In the clip, a revolution breaks out. Guns are brandished, rocks are thrown, and, naturally, blood is spilled.

Nude Beach – “Some Kinda Love”

Produced & Edited by Rob Hatch-Miller & Puloma Basu
Director Of Photography: Paul Yee

Growing up in the bucolic waterfront village of Northport, NY, Chuck Betz, Ryan Naideau and Jimmy Shelton played punk rock together since high school, in a succession of bands more than happy to set up at any house party, BBQ or makeshift venue that would have them. The familiar strain of classic rock is the go-to sound on the North Shore of Long Island, but they lived in an alternate universe where Ryan convinced his parents to let him turn the family basement into an occasional all-ages show space, hosting touring groups, and rounding out the bill with whatever band he and his friends were in at the time. Fast forward to 2008, the boys had based themselves in Brooklyn and Nude Beach was born; the group slowly integrated themselves into the local DIY community, performing in dive bars and warehouse lofts, often several times a week, playing more than 100 shows in less than four years together. They self-released cassettes and vinyl LPs, they booked their own tours, and played in infinite side-projects and spin-off bands at every punk venue in North Brooklyn and beyond.

But while Nude Beach is very much a part of the Brooklyn DIY scene, it's always been more in spirit than in sound; sure, they're as beer-soaked, overdriven and raw as any group around, yet as hard as they've tried to ignore it, the trio could never quite shake the rock & roll of Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen which sound-tracked their Long Island youth, and battered vinyl from the Byrds, the Replacements and the Jam sits side by side in their record collections with the hardcore and indie LPs and 7"s that brought the friends together in the first place. In an increasingly fractured music scene, Chuck, Ryan and Jimmy play against fashion and deliver straight up rock & roll, and moreover, they do it better than anyone has in a long time. They've got the songs, they've got the sound, and they've got the f**k-all attitude that just can't be faked. Nude Beach will rock you if you let them -- turns out, it's still more fun than just about anything else going on.

Danny Brown – “Wit It”

In his video for “Wit It,” Danny Brown steps into animated, psychedelic, low-res versions of the album covers that Pen & Pixel used to make for No Limit and Cash Money. He also spends some serious quality time with a mob of strippers. Probably best to consider this one NSFW. Bijoux Altamirano directs.

Sufjan Stevens – “Mr. Frosty Man”

Next week, Sufjan Stevens drops his Christmas-music EP box set Silver & Gold: Songs For Christmas. And even though his seasonal slopfest “Mr. Frosty Man” isn’t the best Christmas song you’re ever likely to hear, credit it with being the inspiration and basis for director Lee Hardcastle‘s ridiculous claymation video, which involves Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus, and a horde of ravenous radioactive zombies. I don’t know if I could call it NSFW, but it is just incredibly gruesome in that classic Evil Dead gore-slapstick way.

Arca – “Manners”

NY producer Arca released the Stretch 2 LP this summer, and this super-pristine HD screensaver-style video directed by Jesse Kanda just now. It’s spacious, synth-based, with hip hop in its DNA and MDMA in its gut.

Groundislava – “Suicide Mission” (Feat. Baths)

This past August, Venice, CA’s Jasper Patterson, aka Groundislava (or Ground Is Lava), released his sophomore LP, Feel Me, which featured the electronic composer teaming with a host of musicians (most of whom are part of the Wedidit Collective, of which Patterson is a member). For Feel Me track “Suicide Mission,” Patterson worked with Baths, and the two produced a shimmering, dark, down-tempo piece with a haunting Baths vocal. Now the track has a video, directed by Patterson’s brother, Barney (aka Sus Boy), in which a glowing alien form falls to Earth, strolls around for a bit, and then blows the place up.

The Gaslight Anthem – “Here Comes My Man” (Starring Elisha Cuthbert)

I think most people know Elisha Cuthbert as Kim Bauer on 24, but for me, it’s all about her role as Alex Kerkovich on Happy Endings, on which she gets to display her impressive comic chops, and which — huge coincidence! — comes back for its season 3 premiere tonight. Why such a coincidence? Because she’s starring in the new Gaslight Anthem video, for “Here Comes My Man,” which ALSO premieres today. The track is from the band’s recent album, Handwritten. Of course, Cuthbert is no stranger to music videos; she was also featured in Weezer’s clip for “Perfect Situation” back in 2006. Unlike Weezer, Gaslight don’t do much to showcase Cuthbert’s comic abilities here, but it’s still worth checking out.

Wild Nothing – “Paradise” (Starring Michelle Williams)

A voyaging Michelle Williams stars in Wild Nothing’s video for “Paradise,” a cloudy, skyborne clip that also features a voiceover from Williams (she’s reading from Iris Murdoch’s A Wild Child). Williams reportedly had a choice between three Wild Nothing songs and she chose “Paradise;” make of that what you will. Matt Amato directs.

The Raveonettes – “Curse The Night”

In the Raveonettes’ video for the fuzzily romantic Observator cut “Curse The Night,” two little kids dress up as drummer boys and lead a youngster mob through inky black-and-white streets. Things then take a surprisingly villainous turn that I don’t want to spoil. Watch the video and check out a (long) statement from the Danish directing duo Storm/Hansen.
When we first started talking to the band about making a video for “Curse The Night” it turned out we’d all be in Copenhagen at the same time in September, so we decided to shoot the video there. We all used to live in the city, but moved to Los Angeles or New York years ago.

We thought it’d be a cool way for the band to show their fans where they are from and since we’ve never shot a video in Copenhagen, we saw an opportunity to revisit the city with fresh eyes and portray it in a new light. Copenhagen is ancient and has an architectural history you’ll only find on the Universal back-lot in the US. When you live abroad for a while you start seeing your hometown through the eyes of a tourist and discover new aspects you never thought interesting or worthwhile.

“Curse The Night” is an extremely visual song and required an atmospheric video to go with the moody track. We knew from the minute we heard it that it had to be in black and white. There’s a loneliness and solitude to the music that called for an empty city at night and we actually came up with two very different ideas that we pitched to Sune and Sharin. In one idea only they would be in the video and in the other, they wouldn’t be in it at all.

They chose the idea where they weren’t in it at all… That was also by far the most ambitious idea of the two. The core of the video was inspired by the drumbeat in the beginning of the track. We came up with the idea of two kids with drums gathering a motley crew of youngsters in an empty city after dark. Towards the end of the song there’s a very melodic bridge that breaks from the rest of the track and we knew we need some sort of twist or climax here. We had several ideas, but didn’t know exactly what it should be, so we started a constructive brainstorm with the band.

It was important for them to include an element of surprise, something unexpected that wasn’t a cute finale and that’s how we came to the ending that’s now in the video. You basically take the story of The Pied Piper and mix it with The Town or Point Break and you have the plot.

Once we all agreed on that idea, we were more or less free to do what we wanted. They started their tour and we got to work. Ordinarily we produce our videos through our LA based production company, The Kompany Entertainment, but this time our Scandinavian rep Kasper Graversen and Minerva Film produced in Copenhagen.

The whole idea was extremely ambitious. Not only because the budget was limited, but also because we wanted to shoot three nights with seven 8-13 year-olds during fall in

Denmark. Weather is ridiculously unpredictable and we didn’t have any contingency for rain or children catching the flu.

We limited ourselves out of necessity and decided to shoot mostly with available light and let that be a dogma throughout the video. It wasn’t an easy choice since we were shooting mostly exteriors at night, so we spent days scouting the city looking for the brightest streets. We found them in the more posh neighborhoods…

We knew we wanted the ending to take place on this very iconic bridge in Copenhagen, so we had to make sure the streetlights were all working. Locking it off meant we couldn’t start shooting until after midnight and since we wanted to create the illusion of a deserted city, we shot mid-week when party people stayed home. We were still only allowed to block traffic 3-4 minutes at a time, so there was a lot of running on and off the bridge along with long periods of waiting while busses, cabs and cyclist crossed the bridge in intervals.

We decided to spend what money we had in the key places that we knew we needed in just in order to make the video at all. That included a light sensitive camera, our key location and the main prop – the armored CIT vehicle. For the rest we had to pull in every favor we could. The Raveonettes carry a lot of goodwill so a lot of people were willing to help. We were also able to find a couple of very hard working volunteers that became crucial in everything from coordinating, casting, production design etc.

We had very specific ideas about almost everything in the video. From props to costumes to casting. We saw about 50 children before we decided on our posse of seven. The kids (and their parents) were amazing. None of them had been up later than midnight before and now they all had to stay awake till 5 am – several school nights in a row. Fortunately they thought the whole thing was a blast and unlimited sodas and candy can create a lot of insane energy.

We wrapped at 8am the last night and started editing right away. Fortunately we were able to shoot almost exactly what we set out to get, so when we presented to first cut to the band there weren’t many notes. We were all basically on the same page, so the whole post process was easy. Despite the extreme conditions and total lack of sleep we’re very pleased with how the video turned out.

Action Bronson - "The Symbol" (Official Video)

Pretty soon, New York underground wolf Action Bronson, one of the greatest rappers currently working, will release Rare Chandeliers, a full-length team-up with producer the Alchemist. This is obviously awesome news. Director Rik Cordero‘s video for first single “The Symbol” is a self-conscious homage to hyperviolent ’70s blaxploitation D-movies, and it stars Bronson as a blonde-wigged human wrecking ball who beats up and/or kills at least a dozen dudes in three minutes.

A Place To Bury Strangers – “And I’m Up”

A Place To Bury Strangers’ video for “And I’m Up” consists entirely of toys being burned, exploded, crushed, and generally destroyed with extreme prejudice. Masters Of The Universe figures seem to get it especially bad. And as any child with a healthy nihilistic streak can tell you, this shit is super-fun to watch. Karl Ackermann, brother of frontman Oliver, directs.

Nicki Minaj - "Come On A Cone" Video (feat.Kanye, Waka, Gucci, Kim Kardashian Cameos)

Nicki Minaj's "Come on a Cone" Video Features Kanye, Waka, Gucci, Kim Kardashian Cameos.

NahRight points to this belated video for Nicki Minaj's "Come on a Cone", which seems to be a promotional video for the upcoming reissue of Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded: The Reup, out November 19). Regardless, it is delightful in many ways.

We see Nicki rapping in front of a big crowd of men, among them Waka Flocka Flame and Gucci Mane, both of whom look like they'd shine her stilettos for her in a heartbeat if she asked. There's footage of her as she's escorted onstage by Birdman and Tyga at an awards show; later, she's cheek-kissed by Kanye.

Then we see the equally commanding foil to her street-rap status as she gabs with Kim Kardashian in the front row at a fashion show. She breezes by American Idol's Randy Jackson, grinning, in another scene. It's all done in a low budget-looking way, easily edited down in a matter of hours. Directed by Grizz Lee, it feels like Nicki's way of saying, "Look at me, I am everything and more."

The Black Keys & RZA – “The Baddest Man Alive” Video

In the video for “The Baddest Man Alive,” their track from the soundtrack to The Man With The Iron Fists, the Black Keys and RZA brawl over who gets to eat the one fortune cookie that their waitress has left on the table at the end of a meal. This means we get to see RZA slapping Dan Auerbach in the face with a fish before going on a gory rampage through the restaurant. And if you can get around the whole RZA-ripping-the-waitress’s-shirt-off thing, I’m pretty sure we’ve already seen the video of the week. Chris Marrs Piliero directs the NSFW-ish clip.

Stars - "Backlines"

In the video for “Backlines”, a single from their new album The North, Canadian indie-pop dramatists Stars play tiny versions of themselves, playing and singing as part of some elaborate wind-up clockwork diorama doohickey.

Ultraísta – “Our Song”

Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich’s new band, Ultraísta — also featuring Joey Waronker and Laura Bettinson — released their self-titled debut LP a couple weeks ago. Instead, the band went with the glitchy “Our Song,” and an equally glitchy accompanying vid.

Swans – “The Apostate” (Live Video)

Swans’ behemoth double-LP The Seer is a pretty safe bet to be included in most year-end top 10s, and the album hits its apex at its conclusion: the 23-minute “The Apostate.” Generally speaking, 23 minutes is about the length of a sitcom (sans commercials), not a single, so it’s appropriate that the band edited the thing down for its video; here it clocks in at a brisk 12 minutes. The song is as hypnotic and intense as a peyote ritual, and the live experience captured in this performance video makes that analogy seem especially apt.

Regina Spektor – “How”

Regina Spektor’s recent videos for “All The Rowboats” and “Don’t Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas)” were quirky, fun affairs. But despite flashes of old-timey animation and a scene where she appears to be wearing butterfly wings, Spektor’s new video for the breakup-driven piano-ballad “How” is something else entirely. It’s a calm and sincere moving portrait of Spektor, the camera worshipping at her feet and switching back and forth between lush color and even lusher black-and-white. Margo Weathers directs.

Regina Spektor – “Don’t Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas)”

Regina Spektor’s new album What We Saw From The Cheap Seats has already yielded one video in “All The Rowboats,” and now we get another one, for the jaunty and bilingual “Don’t Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas).” In the clip, Spektor acts adorable and weird in a fancy hotel room, playing around in a series of shots so carefully composed that they could be Jacques Tati homages. Ace Norton directs.

Death Grips – “True Vulture”

“True Vulture” is a collaboration between Death Grips and artist Galen Pehrson, whose digitally hand-drawn animation gives a visual component to the exclusive DG track. The video features voices (and “additional sound design”) by actress Jena Malone, with whom Pehrson has been romantically linked. The animation has a kind of ultra-creepy Bakshi’s Fritz The Cat quality to it.

Neil Young And Crazy Horse – “Twisted Road”

“Twisted Road” is the third video to be released from Neil Young And Crazy Horse’s forthcoming Psychedelic Pill double-LP, and it shares tonal similarities with the first two, “Walk Like A Giant” and “Ramada Inn“: It’s full of grainy, non-sequential images of a younger America. Beyond its broader themes — nostalgia, life on the road — the song is a tribute to Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, and the Grateful Dead, and the video contains footage of all those artists in their youth.

La Sera – “Break My Heart”

In La Sera’s video for “Break My Heart,” a fuzz-popper from her recent Sees The Light album, the artifacts lying around Vivian Girl Katy Goodwin’s room come to life and throw themselves into disarray. Cassandra Lee Hamilton directs, and it all amounts to an incredibly low-stakes Evil Dead sequel.

Kaki King – “Cargo Cult” (Official Video)

Kaki King is a guitarist and composer who has been called "a genre unto herself" by Rolling Stone. We've got the exclusive video premiere of her song "Cargo Cult" off her sixth studio album Glow, which she describes as "the sound of a person playing guitar. Whatever additions we made, the fundamental of this record is still one person playing a guitar. That’s who I am."

Pinback – “Sherman”

I’ve spent a lot of time with the new Pinback album, Information Retrieved, over the last week or so. I love the thing. If you like Pinback, I can’t see how you wouldn’t love it. It’s everything I love about Pinback — it’s clean, intricate, elliptical, elaborately layered, beautifully melodic, strangely serene — except more so. The band just released a video for “Sherman,” which actually isn’t even one of my two or three favorite songs on the album at the moment, but is still totally, unimpeachably great. The video is a retro-futuristic sci-fi short, with Zach and Rob in shiny spacesuits.

Die Antwoord - "Fatty Boom Boom" (Official Video)

So: Die Antwoord totally wear blackface in their new video. Awesome, right? That’s really exactly what we all needed to see today. Or, to clarify, they wear full-body paint that, in at least a couple of instances, looks a whole lot like blackface. Also, there’s a Lady Gaga impersonator who has her tour van hijacked, gives birth to an insect, and gets eaten by a lion. I don’t even know what to say at this point. NSFW, I guess? It’s below. Go ahead. Do what you need to do.

Bon Iver - Beth/Rest (Official Video)

Before they exit stage left, Justin Vernon and Bon Iver have dropped the video for their Bon Iver closer, “Beth/Rest”. Directed by Vernon and Dan Huiting, and filmed in the same woods that surround the band’s studio, the celestial clip fully encapsulates the track’s elegiac qualities, focusing on alien-like tribesmen that glow no different than Jor-El of Krypton. Vernon, who based the clip on a treatment he wrote, explains, “It’s kind of about two people who are truly meant for each other and what happens to their essence. How they connect is some other thing that we don’t know how to really talk about.” Admittedly, it doesn’t come close to that ’80s-inspired video a year back, but it’s nice to finally see something substantial and official.

Starred - "No Good" (Official Music Video)

One of my favorite songs of the past few months is “No Good,” a slow and stately psych-country lament from Starred, a duo whose singer Liza Thorn is a former Christopher Owens bandmate. In that song’s brand-new video, Thorn languorously hitchhikes her way across a desolated Western mountain landscape. Grant Singer directs this little road movie.

The xx - Chained (Official Video)

The xx have shared a video for "Chained" off their new album Coexist. The clip, made by the Creators Project, was directed by the Young Replicant team, who also just did the video for Purity Ring's "Fineshrine". That parallel makes a lot of sense; this video's another bleak, muted-color tale that takes place primarily under water.

Lana Del Rey – “Ride”

Last month, we heard “Ride,” the new Rick Rubin-produced ballad that serves as the single from the forthcoming Paradise Edition of Lana Del Rey’s Born To Die. And now, the song has a 10-minute mini-epic of a new video. If this even means anything, LDR herself wrote the video, and Anthony Mandler directed it. It’s a dreamlike, narratively fractured thing where LDR plays some sort of singer/biker chick/hooker character who gets involved with a succession of sketchy older dudes and who may or may not commit murder at some point in the video. Even at its extreme length, it’s a pretty enrapturing thing. Say what you will about Lana Del Rey, but she excels at this part of the game.

Kanye West – “White Dress”

Here’s Kanye West’s contribution to RZA’s The Man With The Iron Fists OST, a soulful, vintage Kanye-sounding cut called “White Dress.” It comes complete an an accompanying video, a collage of shots from the world-circling protagonist. Dan The Man directs the video and Kanye and the RZA produce the track.

OFF! – “Wrong” Video (Feat. Jack Black)

L.A. trad-punkers OFF! have released a handful of funny, weird videos for songs that are shorter than most radio jingles. (“Cracked” clocks in at 1:27; “Borrow And Bomb” and “I Got News For You” are both so short that the band just crammed ‘em both into one video.) The grainy, B-movie-esque “Wrong” is a little more than a minute long, and features Jack Black as a violent ass-kicking gangleader.

Chris Cohen – “Monad”

Last month, the longtime indie rock sideman Chris Cohen released his debut solo album Overgrown Path, an instantly likable collection of idiosyncratic psych-pop ditties. We’ve already posted his “Optimist High” video, and now here’s the clip for “Monad,” another album track. This one doesn’t feature Cohen himself. Instead, it’s more of a Brakhage-indebted abstract thing, showing cells metamorphing and shapes flashing against blackness.

M. Ward – “Me And My Shadow”

M. Ward’s new video for “Me And My Shadow” features a poisonous relationship between a manager and a teen star, which in turn paves the way for a rogue rescue operation from a (braces-adorning) fan.

Yeasayer – “Reagan’s Skeleton”

I’m not sure if there’s any connection, intentional or otherwise, but the brand-new clip for Yeasayer’s “Reagan’s Skeleton” — a highlight from the band’s recent third album, Fragrant World — has a real Reagan-era feel to it: It’s a dramatically lit performance video that would have fit comfortably on MTV circa ’85, in between vids from Simple Minds and the Power Station. That feeling is enhanced by the weird wavy quality of the picture, which makes it look like it was recorded off TV onto a well-worn VHS cassette. And the song, which sounds not unlike a vintage Trevor Horn production, wouldn’t exactly be out of place in that milieu, either.

Jack White - I'm Shakin'

Today, Jack White dropped the video for “I’m Shakin’,” the fired-up Little Willie John video that appeared on his still-great album Blunderbuss. White’s been famously touring with two bands lately, one all-male and one all-female. And in the video, two different Whites and both of his bands face off against each other, soundclash-style. Here’s how much of an egalitarian Jack White is: Even his all-male band has girls in it. It’s a fun, stylish video that gets over on White’s rock-star charisma and doesn’t crowd that out with too many extra elements. Dori Oskowitz directs.

Angel Haze – “Werkin’ Girls” Video

Fresh off of her BET Hip Hop Awards cypher, Detroit’s Angel Haze serves up her clip for “Werkin’ Girls.” It all starts innocently enough but eventually — as, you know, suggested by Angel’s Freddie Krueger razor gloves — it turns sinister.

Thee Oh Sees - "Lupine Dominus" (Official Music Video)

Bay Area garage-rock greats Thee Oh Sees have a new video for “Lupine Dominus,” a freaked-out psych-squeal gallop from their new album Putrifiers II. In the clip, we see the world inside a seedy strip club, where one personal interaction takes a few unexpected turns. You don’t really see anything, but you might want to consider the entire affair NSFW just in case. John Strong directs.

Meek Mill ft Big Sean - Burn (Official Music Video)

Here’s Meek Mill’s incendiary new clip for “Burn,” the Big Sean-featuring joint that’s getting some serious — wait for it — burn on the radio right now. Also there’s an alligator posted up next to a bottle of Patron, just cuz. DRE Films directs.

Sharon Van Etten - Magic Chords (Official Video)

Sharon Van Etten has dropped one gloomy, surrealistic video for “Magic Chords”, off this year’s Tramp. Directed by Rick Alverson, the majority of the clip finds Etten stalking the woods in her pilgrim’s best, which technically works for both Halloween and Thanksgiving. Towards the end, she shares a relaxing swim with several corpses, and while it’s not exactly creepy, it is sort of spooky how it comes off as dazzling. Necrophiliacs be damned.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros – “Child”

Look, we 20-somethings can gripe about getting older, but what do we really know about being old? Like, laid-up-in-a-hospital-bed-waiting-for-the-Reaper capital-oh Old? That’s the lesson in Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros’ new video for “Child” off this year’s Here. A slimmed down Santa is facing his final days, when a young girl (from his past?) appears to remind him what life really is/was. It’s his final hurrah. Directed By: Michał Byra.

Matt & Kim – “Let’s Go”

When Matt & Kim debuted their new single “Let’s Go” a few months ago, they did it in the form of a viral video featuring basketball trick-dribble virtuoso Pat The Roc. If that had been the song’s official music video, nobody would’ve minded, but now they’ve actually got a proper music video for the song. It takes place entirely in a willfully cheesed-out ’80s-style photo-portrait studio, and it shows Matt, Kim, and various others looking as goofy as possible. Dugan O’Neal directs.

The Child Of Lov (Featuring Damon Albarn) – “Heal”

It’s not easy for an artist to have a secret identity in the time of Facebook, but so far the Child Of Lov has managed to keep his given name on the DL. Of course, he has yet to release an album or physical single yet, so there’s ample time for his cover to be blown. What we do know? The artists associated with the project are insanely impressive: DOOM, Thundercat, and Damon Albarn all contribute to the Child of Lov’s forthcoming debut LP. The first single from that album, “Heal,” features a bassline courtesy of Albarn; it’s reminiscent of Blur’s “Crazy Beat,” in fact. The video for the track was filmed in Atlanta (the Child Of Love is “artistically rooted in the southern state of Georgia, USA,” per his bio) and directed Focus Creeps (Arctic Monkeys, Girls the band).

Cloud Nothings – “Fall In” - “No Future/No Past” Video

Here’s the Hollywood Golden Era-channeling clip for Cloud Nothing’s “Fall In,” a visual featuring Dylan Baldi & Co. flanked by white leotard-clad dancers. John Ryan Manning — who also did the “No Future/No Past” clip — directs.

The Mountain Goats – “Cry For Judas”

Here’s the Mountain Goats’ new video for “Cry For Judas,” an emotional, striking tour through youthful curiosity, sin and pain. Also, the star of it is arguably a mouse running through a maze. Needless to say, there’s a lot to process here.

Rhye - "The Fall" (Official Music Video)

Rhye's track gets a clip with a "grass is always greener" narrative.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse - "Ramada Inn" (Official Music Video)

This motherfucker Neil Young just got his old Crazy Horse band back together to make their second album this year, and that album, Psychedelic Pill, has some really, really long songs on it. One of those songs is “Ramada Inn,” a 17-minute psych-rock odyssey about, more or less, being old and in love. It’s pretty shattering, and now Young has made a video for it, using a ton of old, scratchy archival footage and kaleidoscopic designs.

Sigur Rós – “Dauðalogn” Video

Icelandic dreamers Sigur Rós are still making videos for their Valtari Film Experiment, in which every song from their new album gets a video treatment from a different visual artist. The latest, for “Dauðalognm,” is a slow, tender, atmospheric thing, in which one man carries another man — a naked man — through a misty forest and waits by his hospital bed. There’s a ton of nudity, but I’m pretty sure no schlongs are exposed, so you should be OK watching it at work, provided you work in a suitably liberal environment. Ruslan Fedotow directs.

Coldplay – “Hurts Like Heaven” Video

Slash - "Bad Rain"

Slash is once again delving into the animated world, but this time with a more sinister turn in the video for ‘Bad Rain.’ The guitar great and his animated counterparts turn up as the house band at a strip club that holds a dark secret.

In the video, an older gentleman enters the club and is immediately transfixed by the fetching redhead with the snake tattoo dancing upon the stage while Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators play in the background. The woman has seemingly every man in the place glued to her every move, but the latest arrival is the one garnering most of her attention.

As she continues to mesmerize the gentleman in the front row, he starts to notice that the people around him are not what they seem.

This isn’t the first time Slash has been involved with animation, as Velvet Revolver‘s ‘Dirty Little Thing‘ clip had animated elements (Watch for yourself below). The rocker also appeared in animated form for Disney’s ‘Phineas and Ferb‘ film.

‘Bad Rain’ appears on Slash’s latest album, ‘Apocalyptic Love.’

Bloc Party - Kettling

In Bloc Party’s new video for “Kettling”, a group of school children take a game of Red Rover to its most violent extreme (although running headfirst into a group of your friends has always been a teensy bit violent). Here, kids no older than 13 tackle each other with the ferocity of Roman soldiers, eventually leading to an all-out brawl of tiny fists and awkward tackles that is as bloody as it is adorable. It’d be easy to blame parents, the media, or irresponsible farmers for this unwarranted violence, but this 7th grade fight club seems to cherish this bloodshed more than an extended recess.

Beta testing and lyrical input, Vrüden Jakov

The lyrics for this Political Remix Video are available at http://lyonspotter.blogspot.com, as there is insufficient space to include them here. The remix features Barack Obama rapping a modified version of Jay Z's "99 Problems." Mitt Romney has a few lines in the role of "the police officer." This parable I give unto you: Not a few who meant to cast out their devil went thereby into the swine themselves.

AlunaGeorge - Watching Over You

Watch the Nintendo-Inspired Video for AlunaGeorge's New Song "Watching Over You"

UK duo AlunaGeorge have offered up an extra spine-tingly new song, titled "Watching Over You", for a compilation put together by BBC Radio 1's Annie Mac. Brendan Canty (not the one from Fugazi) also created a very abstract video to go along with the track, filled with gently glitchy imagery and brief flashes of Nintendo games.

Divine Fits – “Would That Not Be Nice”

Divine Fits - "Would That Not Be Nice". Directed by Brian Butler.

Menomena – “Plumage”

Menomena’s new clip features a long-developing bandmate standoff that comes complete with dozens of costume changes. The description on YouTube reads “Menomena share their various forms of plumage,” which I totally hadn’t put together! Now it all — and by that I mean everything — makes sense. Trevor McMahan directs.

Killer Mike – “Reagan”

New video directed by Daniel Garcia and Harry Teitelman for Killer Mike’s ‘Reagan’ is a nice primer ahead of tonight’s presidential debate.

“Reagan” was the track on Killer Mike’s excellent El-P-produced album R.A.P. Music where Mike vented furious spleen at targets that included the last five presidents and Mike himself. The song now has an animated video that plays like a political paranoiac’s ecstatic fantasy, complete with giant killer robot and an Illuminati pyramid that, at one point, starts rapping.

Music video by David Guetta performing Titanium.

Miguel - Do You...

Music video by Miguel performing Do You.... , vaguely bluesy drugs-as-sex ballad “Do You…” (final punchline: “I’m gonna do you like drugs tonight”). In the clip, from amazingly named director Constellation Jones, Miguel and a ladyfriend leave Las Vegas in a muscle car so that they can sexily pose against the Nevada desert. This seems like a pretty good thing to do if you’re ever in Las Vegas.

Bat For Lashes – “All Your Gold”

In the sweeping, visually striking video for Bat For Lashes’ new single “All Your Gold,” we see Natasha Khan twitchily dancing her way across a beach. It’s done in glowing black-and-white, and Khan pretty much owns the camera the entire time. This is one of those cases where nothing much happens in the video, but it transfixes anyway. Noel Paul, who also did Bat For Lashes’ great “Laura” video, directs.

The Hood Internet - "One for the Record Books" ft. AC Newman, Sims (Official Video)

Here's the video for "One for the Record Books" from The Hood Internet ft. Shot on location in West Virginia with Seth, his cats, tattoos, fireworks, Wal-Mart, and even a beer under the bridge with a pretty girl. Here's what the band had to say:

"I would describe the "One For The Records Books" track as both warm and sad, both romantic and melancholy. I lived with the track, and some how ended up with this story in my head about a lonely dude, in a small town, struggling with individuality and romance in a world of internet dating and weekend long music festivals."

Directed by Jason Goldwatch, who has previously collaborated with Kid Cudi and Nas.

Grizzly Bear – “Yet Again”
