Over the past year or so, Grant Singer
has made a strong argument that he’s our best music-video director;
he’s done great work with people like Ariel Pink and the Weeknd. For his
latest trick, he’s directed a video that he co-wrote with Skrillex. The
clip is for Skrillex’s dramatically bass-heavy remix of “Red Lips,” a
track from the Miami duo GTA. The clip shows a woman singing in a
dreamscape that quickly turns into a nightmare once Skrillex’s bass
comes in and all these faceless pop-locking monsters appear from
nowhere. It’s another vivid, memorable Singer video. Pitchfork posted the video alongside an interview with Skrillex.
