Yasiin Bey - “Basquiat Ghostwriter” (Official Video)

Last week, Yasiin Bey (fka Mos Def) released a new track called “Basquiat Ghostwriter,” which he says was inspired by the titular artist’s paintings and notebook sketches, the latter of which have been on display since April in an exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum. Bey’s video for the track, which was directed by production company A Country Called Earth, incorporates footage of Jean-Michel Basquiat working alongside some shots of Bey recording in the studio, all washed out in a negative effect.
