A couple of months ago, R&B auteur The-Dream shared a politically poignant new song called “Black,” a departure from a guy best-known for singing about sex. The song’s new video pushes it even further into “have to say something” territory, playing around with powerful imagery but coming up with something a big confusing and muddled. The clip revolves around what seems to be a generally anti-inequality protest through the streets of South Africa, and it has The-Dream staring down the soldiers who point guns at him.
