The slick and supple “Out Of The Game” is the title track from Rufus Wainwright’s forthcoming Mark Ronson-produced LP, and accordingly, Rufus has pulled out the stops for its video. Herein you’ll find Tim Burton-muse/showbiz shapeshifter Helena Bonham Carter cast convincingly in the least eccentric role of her lifetime (a frustrated, daydreaming librarian) while Rufus does the bulk of the hamstanding, in triplicate: as a bookish adventure type, a Sonic Youth-loving wastrel, and a past-prime housewife type. The climax has Helena in lingerie, and Rufus’s characters having an orgy with themselves, so if you do decide to press play on this one, you’re advised to take it to the end.
