Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I hits theaters on November 19th, 2010.
Cast: Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Tom Felton, Ralph Fiennes, Alan Rickman, Bill Nighy, Jamie Campbell Bower, Bonnie Wright, Helena Bonham Carter, Timothy Spall, Michael Gambon, Rhys Ifans, Maggie Smith, John Hurt, Jason Isaacs, Ciaran Hind
Part 1 begins as Harry, Ron and Hermione set out on their perilous mission to track down and destroy the secret to Voldemort's immortality and destruction-the Horcruxes. On their own, without the guidance of their professors or the protection of Professor Dumbledore, the three friends must now rely on one another more than ever. But there are Dark Forces in their midst that threaten to tear them apart.
Meanwhile, the wizarding world has become a dangerous place for all enemies of the Dark Lord. The long-feared war has begun and Voldemort's Death Eaters seize control of the Ministry of Magic and even Hogwarts, terrorizing and arresting anyone who might oppose them. But the one prize they still seek is the one most valuable to Voldemort: Harry Potter. The Chosen One has become the hunted one as the Death Eaters search for Harry with orders to bring him to Voldemort... alive.
Harry's only hope is to find the Horcruxes before Voldemort finds him. But as he searches for clues, he uncovers an old and almost forgotten tale-the legend of the Deathly Hallows. And if the legend turns out to be true, it could give Voldemort the ultimate power he seeks.
Little does Harry know that his future has already been decided by his past when, on that fateful day, he became "the Boy Who Lived." No longer just a boy, Harry Potter is drawing ever closer to the task for which he has been preparing since the day he first stepped into Hogwarts: the ultimate battle with Voldemort.

Nir Ben Jacob on "River's Edge" music video:
"About half a year ago, I stumbled on these wood-chip plate compositions my late grandfather made. They're a beautiful example of early Israeli-Yemenite art. As soon as I saw them I knew I had to animate them. They had been in storage for years so it meant a great deal to bring them out and breathe life into them. This was an opportunity to not only contribute to his work, but also expose it to the audience it never had. When I heard "River's Edge" I was amazed. It's a great track and the music and lyrics corresponded to the plates perfectly. It was really exciting to see how the visuals complemented the song."
The Art of Analog Computing shows what it would be like if we did everything at work the same way we do things on a computer. The film represents the digital tools and interfaces we use daily in an analog way.
In the analog office, your computer desktop becomes your actual desk, your inbox gets flooded with Spam cans, the server runs past you multiple times a day, and Twitter users follow each other around the space.
The premise of this short film is to represent the digital tools and interfaces we use daily in an analog way. In the analog office, your computer desktop becomes your actual desk, your inbox gets flooded with Spam cans, the server runs past you multiple times a day (and perhaps crashes every now and then), and Twitter users follow each other around the space. This concept is essentially just for fun but also reminds us just how digitally connected we all are. The video was acted and produced entirely by the Meltmedia team and filmed in the Meltmedia office. We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it.
Heads-up: The "butler" or "waiter" guy is the "Server."
Also heads-up: The movie is mostly Mac-based because we're a Mac shop.
Also, also heads-up: Movie was edited using Final Cut Express 4. The typewriter scene, credits, and open title compositing were done in After Effects. Props and graphic elements in video were built in Photoshop or Illustrator.
Also, also, also heads-up: There's a bonus scene past the end of the credits (beyond the copyright line).
Head over to meltmedia.com/ignite for photos and more information on our little video.

We’ve previously posted the band OK Go’s innovative music videos, including their Rube Goldberg machine and brass band versions of “This Too Shall Pass”, as well as their treadmill dancing video. All of those videos were shot in one take, and this new one is no different. The director of “End Love” writes about how his team created the video’s visual effects by altering the film speed:
The fastest we go is 172,800x, compressing 24 hours of real time into a blazing 1/2 second. The slowest is 1/32x speed, stretching a mere 1/2 second of real time into a whopping 16 seconds. This gives us a fastest to slowest ratio of 5.5 million. If you like averages, the average speed up factor of the band dancing is 270x. In total we shot 18 hours of the band dancing and 192 hours of LA skyline timelapse – over a million frames of video – and compressed it all down to 4 minutes and 30 seconds! Oh and don’t forget, it’s one continuous camera shot.

There's a teaser trailer out for a new Mortal Kombat movie, "Mortal Kombat Rebirth," though it's unclear if this movie will indeed get made, or if this is just a teaser for a reboot of the video game. Signs point to a movie since there's an IMDB listing (2013) and the production values on the trailer are pretty high.
Regardless, we are totally hooked and rooting for this to happen. "Rebirth" promises to be a more realistic and gritty version than the previous two films. (The first one we loved; the second one not so much.) All your favorite characters seem to be in the mix as well.

As part of their MTV Oooh rebrand, MTV commissioned leading Dutch creative outfits to come up with short films to communicate the new philosophy. Dvein's short film is one of two films made by PostPanic. Their treatment is based on a sphere, a basic shape found all around us. It can react, transform, convert into different shapes and generate other geometry.
The dinosaurs were headed for trouble. They ate nothing but junk food. They never brushed their teeth. They stayed up all night. And though they loved jumping off cliffs, they didn't like the landings much.
The early mammals tried to warn them. 'Keep that up and you'll all be extinct!' they said. But the dinosaurs just laughed... and over time, they evolved into birds.

This is short film directed by Gavin Kelly (http://www.piranhabar.ie ) we worked on a while ago called "Avatar Days". What makes this one special is the fact that it was filmed, vfx'ed and comped all in just 4 days. It was made as part of the "4 day Film" catagory in the Darklight Film Festival.
It follows 4 MMORPG players taking about their online persona's. As they tell their stories we see them go about their everyday lives against the mundane backdrop of city life...but as their Avatars.
There was a team of people on this with director Gavin Kelly leading the troupe. I worked on the 3d characters along with John O' Connell and Will Sharkey.
John O' Connell was 3D Lead.
