Lykke Li - Sadness is a Blessing

As promised, the video for “Sadness Is A Blessing” is here. It’s directed by Tarik Saleh, the same director behind Lykke Li’s “I Follow Rivers” clip. And this video stars legendary Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård, who’s starred in many Lars Von Trier films in addition to appearances in the Pirates Of The Caribbean series and in Thor. Lykke Li herself puts in a great performance as a young woman in self-destruct/act-out mode.

Late Bloomer - A Sex Ed Class by H.P. Lovecraft (Short Film)

It’s time for Ms. Lovecraft’s seventh grade sex ed class. The mysteries of sex unfold upon the narrator, driving him mad — and he embraces the madness. Craig Macneill and Clay McLeod made this magnificent short film, which is well worth your time.

Beastie Boys - Fight For Your Right Revisited - Short Film In Full

The Beastie Boys have long been on the cutting edge of pop culture and entertainment, and with their big foray into the world of film, they've put together a cast that should have Tarantino, Scorsese and Apatow drooling. And it's all for a short film.

The Brooklyn-bred rap group finally revisits their first mega-hit, "(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)" in this star-filled, action-packed short set in the wild mid-80's period that saw their star skyrocket. A semi-autobiographical bit with plenty of foul language and casual destruction, Danny McBride, Elijah Wood and Seth Rogen star as the Beasties, with Will Ferrell, Jack Black and John C. Reilly mirroring them as their older selves. Stanley Tucci and Susan Sarandon play annoyed adults who just had their house smashed in by a party.

The list of bit players is even more impressive: Rashida Jones, Will Arnett, Adam Scott, Rainn Wilson, Ted Danson, Roman Coppola, Steve Buscemi, Amy Poehler, Jason Schwartzmann, Alicia Silverstone, Laura Dern, Kirsten Dunst, Chloe Sevigny, Maya Rudolph, David Cross, and Martin Starr.

Set to coincide with the release of their long-anticipated new album, "Hot Sauce Committee Part Two," the film also features cameos from the real Beasties Adam Yauch (who directed), Adam Horovitz and Mike D. Of course, they feature as cops.

Oil'd

Oil’d by Chris Harmon, a visual essay that reminds us of our dependence on black gold

A year ago, a massive oil spill began in the Gulf. The entire country was glued to the news until the well was capped, and then we forgot about it.

As the year anniversary was fast approaching I became curious, just how much oil was that exactly? Where would it have gone? What I found was shocking.

So in an effort to further our discussion on oil dependency I created this short animation. I've spent all of my free time in the last month putting this together to help illustrate just how dependent we truly are on oil.

This brilliant animation begins with a man doing restoration on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Perhaps, but he may have some trouble getting through airport security from now on.

Moby featuring Heather Graham - 'The Day'

Official video for the first single to be taken from Moby's forthcoming album (and photo book) 'Destroyed'. The video features Heather Graham alongside Moby and was directed by Evan Bernard and eyeball.

Video Director: Evan Bernard and eyeball: http://www.eyeballnyc.com
Video Producer: Kerri Kleiner
Production Company: Hello And Company

Indirectly inspired by David Bowie and Brian Eno's production circa Low and Heroes (which moby believes is now part of his DNA), the song is one of the few tracks from Destroyed that moby himself sang on. "'The Day' was written in a hotel room in Spain at dawn when I hadn't slept," recounts moby. "I wrote it on an acoustic guitar and recorded it on my phone, brought it home and re-recorded it with the old broken-down electronics I have in my studio."

A deeply personal song about late night desperation and dark-night-of-the-soul disquietude, the video for "The Day" (directed by Evan Bernard) features Moby's friend and actress Heather Graham in the role of a nurse/guardian angel "who gets to slaughter demons," explains moby. "I had this simple idea of Heather as an angel in a hospital. Evan expanded upon it and made it a lot more interesting, a lot more compelling."

The basic plot of the video, according to Heather, is "a woman is lying in a hospital bed and I am the nurse and I give her some oxygen. Then it cuts to me as the angel flying, and then you see this scary demon." The director elaborates: "She (the angel) is the defender of righteousness. She represents good, and she's defeating evil." Climaxing in a metaphysical battle between demon and angel, the video is filled with surreal imagery in an eerie clinical setting.

UNKLE - Money and Run

UNKLE featuring Nick Cave with the video for “Money and Run”. Mostly designed as a visual to be projected on large screens behind the band when they are playing concerts.

This is the official live visual for the UNKLE track 'Money and Run' featuring Nick Cave. This is designed to be projected onto large screens while UNKLE tour around the world, so whilst it is hopefully good to see on your computer, its much better to see on a 20ft screen.

We filmed Nick at UNKLEs studio in Brighton then did all the post over a week or so in our studio in Bristol. It's now touring around with UNKLE along with the other visuals we made last year and some other pre-existing ones.

Facebook: The New Word of Mouth

Facebook Studio presents The New Word of Mouth.

The New Word of Mouth

Why is Facebook such an effective marketing tool? In part, because it has become such an important part of people’s lives. But Facebook also allows people to connect and share with their friends about everything that is important to them, including the brands that they love.

A word of mouth recommendation has always been the most trusted, effective form of marketing. Facebook simply allows the 1 to 1 phenomenon of word of mouth to become scalable. People who like and interact with brands on Facebook can share their interactions organically to their entire network through the News Feed. On average people on Facebook have about 130 friends, and with over 500 million people on Facebook, each interaction has the potential to create word of mouth at a scale that has never before been seen.

Ruarri Joseph - 'Severed Dreams'

Upcoming single from the album -Shoulder to the Wheel'-available http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifnow.

A young boy carries his robot friend into adulthood and finds he would rather put away childish things.

The concept was to continue a story about childhood magical friends where most movies would leave it - Pete's Dragon, ET, Mac and Me, Terminator 2 (!). Our film takes the magical friend through to adulthood where it essentially screws up our protagonist's life!

Young Widows - "Future Heart" (NSFW,)

Our first taste of Louisville noise-rock trio Young Widow’s game-changing In And Out Of Youth And Lightness came via “Future Heart,” one of the album’s more straightforward, streamlined old-school ass-kickers. The song’s Jeremy Johnstone-directed video, on the other hand, is anything but uncomplicated. I’d say it’s NSFW, but it’s unclear if sewing together raw meat’s something that offends Human Resources.

The Decemberists - This Is Why We Fight

Music video by The Decemberists performing "This Is Why We Fight".

Vevo has the video for "This Is Why We Fight", a strummy strummer from the Decemberists' latest, The King Is Dead. The video is something of a super-serious affair, with well-shot footage of young adults and children dressed in old-timey, Decemberist-y military garb dealing with the trials of the battlefield with looks of hopeless ennui.

Low – “Try To Sleep” Video (Feat. John Stamos)

This video for “Try To Sleep” indeed stars John Stamos, a full-on Low fan, but what’s more surprising is how effective he is in the clip. Here’s what Stamos had to say about Low:
I’m actually good friends with their producer Matt Beckley, and he had played me some of the record while they we’re making it, which I loved. Ironically it turns out I was a big fan of one of their older songs “Cue the Strings”… I’m a sucker for a well written song with great harmonies, and when it came time for them to cast the video, they asked if I’d like to be involved, I liked the concept I was happy to be a part of it. The new record is on all the time at my place. One of my favorite indie bands.

Wild Beasts - Albatross

"Albatross", a cut from UK indie outfit Wild Beasts' forthcoming LP Smother, is a slowly unfurling ballad and its corresponding clip is similarly dreamy and disjointed. In the video directed by Dave Ma, a woman engages in some well-choreographed movements around a spare, eerie set, as the footage of her moving is interspersed with clips of IV bags filled with black liquid, as well as huge fossilized bugs. There's a second or two near the end that features bare feet walking on top of a line of said dead bugs-- if you are into that, please keep it to yourself.

We are thrilled to unveil the new video for Wild Beasts' forthcoming single, Albatross, from their forthcoming album Smother.

Filmed in London by the distinctive Dave Ma, the video is a beautiful, dreamlike sequence of images featuring the band along side a female dancer, capturing the high abstraction and intensity of the song. The video emits a sense of reflection about loss and an underlying hope of being free.

Kings of Leon are currently one of the biggest groups in the world and so it was only a matter of time before the story of the Tennessee-born Followill boys was told on screen. And so comes Talihina Sky: The Story of Kings of Leon, an 87-minute documentary, directed by Stephen Mitchell which premieres later this month at the Tribeca Film Festival. From the trailer the film looks like a pretty encompassing lookback at the career of the band with early footage and a pretty hard examination of the boys Pentecostal background and dalliances with both alcohol and drugs.
